About Us

Here at YUCPC we have a regular training session once a week. During the winter and spring terms these take place in a warm pool on Friday evenings. Everyone meets near the sports centre on Heslington West and we provide transport to Yearsley pool and back. All you need to bring along is a rash vest, board shorts and towel, but any old shirt and shorts will do! The cost of a session will be between £6 depending on the number of people in order to cover our costs. During the sessions you will be taught all the basics about Canoe Polo along with wide variety of general and match-focused skills such as Rolling and Goal Keeping.

YUCPC takes part in many different tournaments and competitions throughout the year. Our main competition is in the Yorkshire League, these take place on some Saturdays at Yearsley Pool in York. We also take part in BUC's polo which is a where all British universities take part in matches to find the best team in the UK. In addition we have a team in the national league.

Another large part of the year is the Roses tournament, our varsity, where we compete against Lancaster university.  The weekend compromises of parties, food, polo and also a canoe club slalom which everyone can take part in. This year it is in York and we are out to win!

As well as polo we have termly socials throughout the year, often involving laser quest, bowling and parking each other's cars badly. There are also wednesday night socials, these are joint with our sister club Canoe Club. These can range from civilised drinks at a bar on campus to full fancy dress party nights!
